Follow the river

Every bend of the Nile below is a stop on our way to the aisle. Scroll gently — the boat knows the way.

First bend · Our story

Two rivers, one current

One of us grew up where the Nile slows and widens; the other at the meeting of two oceans. Somewhere between Cairo and Cape Town, the current pulled the same direction. It still does.

Henna night

Friday 16 October · 7 PM

Lanterns, drums, and hands painted with luck. An evening of music and family before the big day — come ready to dance, leave with henna somewhere on you.

Dress: colourful & comfortable — you will be dancing.

Third bend · The vow

The wedding day

Saturday 17 October · 5 PM

We say the words as the city turns the colour of honey. Two languages, a few happy tears, and one very long kiss while the sun goes down behind the minarets.

Dress: formal — evening gowns & dark suits, light fabrics win.

The reception

Saturday 17 October · Half past 7 · Into the night

Long tables by the water, a band that refuses to stop, koshary at midnight and amapiano when the aunties finally sit down. We dance until the river asks us to keep it down.

Keep the outfit, lose the jacket — bring shoes you can actually dance in.

The venue

Venue name TBC · Nile-side, Cairo

A terrace above the river with the pyramids on the horizon. Ceremony and reception in one place — once you arrive, the evening takes care of itself.

Where to sleep

We are holding room blocks in two neighbourhoods: Giza for pyramid views from your balcony, ten minutes from the venue — and leafy Zamalek, the Nile island of cafés and galleries. Say “Nour & Tohfah” when you book; full hotel list and codes coming with your invitation.

Getting here

From South Africa: EgyptAir flies Johannesburg → Cairo direct (about 8 hours, overnight — you land with the morning light on the Nile). From Cape Town, connect through Johannesburg, Addis Ababa or Dubai. South African passports need an Egyptian e-visa — apply online, it takes about a week; we’ll send a step-by-step guide with the invitation. Aim to land by Wednesday 14 October so the henna finds you rested.

The river ends at the delta

Will you be there?

Send your answer down the river. Tell us who is coming, what you eat, and the one song that gets you on the floor.
